Ingredients

  • Rava - 1cup
  • shallots - 100g
  • mustard seeds - 1tsp
  • cashews - 25g
  • channa dhal - 2tsp
  • jeera seeds- 1tsp
  • pepper - 1tsp
  • grated cocunut - 4tsp
  • green chilllies - 3
  • ginger - 1piece
  • oil - 2tsp
  • curry leaves -1spig
  • turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp

Preparation method

  • Heat oil in a pan, splutterr mustard seeds, add channa dhal, pepper n cumin seeds
  • Once the channa dhal turns brown, add cashews, chopped shallots and curry leaves and turmeric powder.  Saute it nicely
  • Once the shallot becomes translucent , add cocunut , green chillies, and ginger  and salt and saute it .
  • Add 2 cups of water and allow it to boil.
  • Once the water boils nicely, add rava and simmer it, til it becomes quiet thick(upma consistency) it should not stick to the pan.
  • Remove n serve hot
