Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1/2 cup Toor Dal 
  • 1/2 cup Capsicum (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Carrots (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Beans (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Peas
  • 1 drumstick (chopped to 1 inch piece)
  • 1 Tomato (sliced)
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Tamarind juice 
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder 
  • 1/2 cup Coconut (grated)
  • 2 Onions (chopped),
  • Salt to taste
  • ginger garlic paste - 1tsp

Spices:

  • 5 Curry Leaves
  • 3 cardomom
  • 2 tsp bengal gram dhal
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds 
  • 3 Dry Red Chilies
  • 1 stick Cinnamon 
  • 1 javithri
  • 1 tsp urad dhal
  • 2 Cloves 
  • 5 Peppercorns

Preparation method

  1. Dry Roast all the spices listed above and grind the spices with some water, grated coconut and turmeric powder and ginger garlic paste. 
  2. Soak rice and dal for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a cooker and add mustard seeds and curry leaves to it.
  4. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add the chopped onions and fry till it changes color.
  5. Now, add tamarind juice with 3 cups of water to the cooker and bring it to boil. 
  6. Once the water starts boiling add rice, dal, vegetables and the spices mixture with salt. Pressure cook the mixture till the third whistle.
  7. Tasty Bisi Bele Bath recipe ready to serve. Serve the tasty bath recipe hot with a teaspoon of ghee.
