Ingredients

  • Basmati rice — 1 cup
  • Water — 2 cups
  • Carrots — ½ cup, diced
  • Frozen green peas – ½ cup, washed
  • Oil — 2 tsp
  • Ghee (clarified butter) — 2 tsp
  • Cinnamon — 1 small piece
  • Cloves — 4
  • cardamom — 1
  • small onion -1
  • green chillies - 1
  •  cumin seeds — 1 tsp
  • Salt — 1 tsp
 

Preparation method

  • soak rice in water for 15 minutes.
  •  In a pan, heat Oil and Ghee.
  •  Add Cinnamon, Cloves, Elaichi and Jeera – allow them to sputter.
  •  Add onion,green chillies ,Carrots and Green Peas and mix well.
  •  Add Rice, Water and Salt.
  •  Bring to a boil – uncovered.
  •  Cover the pan, reduce flame to low and let rice simmer for 15 minutes.
  •  Remove cover and stir gently to mix the vegetables and rice.
  •  Turn off heat and replace cover until ready to eat.
